I provide support

Install the FlowLINE client, sign in, and take control of your clients' machines — including those where no one is present.

Install the client

Download the FlowLINE client (not the support module) from Download, depending on your system:

🪟

Windows

MSI installer. It also installs the service that enables unattended access.

🐧

Linux

.deb package (Debian/Ubuntu) or AppImage (no installation).

🍎

macOS

.dmg disk image (Apple Silicon). When opening: right-click → Open.

Nothing to configure on the server side. The FlowLINE client is already linked to the FlowLINE infrastructure (hosted in Switzerland). The server address and key are built in: there are no network settings to configure.

Sign in and take control

  1. Connect your FlowLINE account (required)

Open the client and sign in with your username, your password and the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Without a connected account, no remote control is allowed: two-factor authentication is required on every sign-in.

  2. Choose the machine to support

Enter the ID the person gave you (or the password displayed by the support module). You can also start from a known machine via the Recent sessions, Favorites, Discovered or Address book tabs.

  3. Connect

Click Connect. If a password is requested, enter it (tick Remember password for a machine you manage regularly).

  4. Work on the machine

You see the machine's screen and control the mouse and keyboard. Use the toolbar for the functions below.

First sign-in? Your account must first be activated: you receive an invitation email (link valid for 72 hours) to choose your password and set up two-factor authentication (QR code to scan with an authenticator app). Account not activated = sign-in impossible. If you lose access, ask your manager to invite you again.

Unattended access (with no one present)

For the machines you maintain, set a permanent password so you can step in at any time, including outside office hours.

  1. On the machine to maintain

Open Settings → Security, the Password card, and click Set permanent password.

  2. Choose a strong password

At least 8 characters, with uppercase, lowercase and a digit.

  3. Keep it in your password manager

You then sign in with the machine's ID and this permanent password.

The default acceptance mode is “password or click”: on a one-off machine, the user can accept with a single click; on a managed machine, the permanent password enables unattended access.

Useful features during a session

📁

File transfer

Send and retrieve files between your machine and the client's.

⌨️

Terminal (beta)

Open a remote command-line session.

🔀

TCP tunneling

Redirect a port to access an internal service at the client's site.

💬

Chat and voice call

Talk to the user during the support session.

🖥️

Multiple monitors

Choose which screen to display on a machine with several monitors.

🔁

System actions

Restart, lock, send Ctrl+Alt+Del, enable privacy mode.

Update and version

⬆️

Update

The client shows a “Click to upgrade” banner when a new version is available. On Windows, the signed installer is verified before installation; on Linux, installation happens after your authorisation (or via the download page for the AppImage).

ℹ️

Check your version

Settings → About FlowLINE: version, build date and hash.

Troubleshooting

The connection to the machine fails.

Check the ID (it changes on every launch of the support module: ask for it again), the password, and that the support module is still open on the client side.

The connection fails even though the machine ID is correct.

Check that you are signed in to your FlowLINE account in the client (this is required) and that your account is activated. If you can no longer sign in (lost password or two-factor authentication), ask your manager for a new invitation.

I cannot find the download page.

All binaries are on flowline.my-vth.ch/download.html. The module to send to your clients is on /support/.

A macOS machine refuses to open.

macOS binaries are not signed by Apple: right-click → Open the first time.
